“The London i” is small show that celebrates small independent brands. Timed to coincide with 100% Optical it offers a less hectic, more intimate collaboration environment – with cocktails!
The show has been gaining popularity since its inception a few years ago and has had to increase the floorspace available a couple of times as more people catch on. It is now presented in a large converted multi-use space in the uber trendy metropolitan area of Shoreditch.
These days it is rare for Anna and I to be able to do a show together, so it was a great opportunity for us to be able to speak with prospective clients together. The client interaction is rich in feedback and armed with some prototypes, we were able to make final selections leading to the BOD and NON frames making the final cut for production.
That the show is London based, shows that British eyewear tastes are developing. The UK has long been slated as being ultra-conservative in our attitude to personal eyewear styling, especially in comparison to our EU neighbours and loud American cousins. That is starting to change and Ffin is a British brand leading the way.
We have proved time and again, that there is a significant percentage of optician clients that are desperate to depart from the mundane and trigger a period of reinvention. Without exception, Anna designs to gift confidence to a wearer to take that step out into the world. Britain has a long history of protecting personal choice and individuality, Wales is littered with legends based on the defense of identity, Ffin Eyewear manifests that ethos in eyewear design. You Be You #UBU.
